Our audition guide will help you learn how and where to find auditions for acting.

Find Auditions: Step 1

Find Auditions for Local Theater and Productions

You can find theater auditions and in local theater listing. Local productions such as videos and commercials will be advertised in the newspaper. If you just started acting, take every opportunity to audition because every experience will help. If you are close to a major city, make sure to check out their newspaper ads because there will be even more opportunity.

Find Auditions: Step 2

Audition for Local Acting Agents

Acting agents have connections in the industry that can help you land an audition. Some agents have acting workshops open to everyone so they can find fresh, new talent. Of course, finding the right agent will also take some work. Ask for a reference and then set up a meeting. Discuss your experience and goals. Do you want to be in commercials, videos, movies, or on TV?

Find Auditions: Step 3

Search Online Resources and Create A Talent Profile

Ask around your own network, acting teachers, and friends. Use social media to search for auditions and casting calls. Event pages will usually announce open auditions you can go to. Sign up to online audition websites so they can contact you about auditions and casting calls.

Whether you are submitting your talent profile online or going directly to an actual audition, have your talent profile ready. This is your acting resume and it should include headshots, experience, personal statistics – height, weight, age range, and any special talent – languages, skills like dancing, singing, or playing any instruments.
